Which ladies automatic c£2-4k?
Discussion
I am after some suggestions for a watch for my wife. She likes the ease of quartz rather than a manual wind so I thought an automatic might be a good choice. Appeals to my idea that it is a proper piece of engineering that will have lasting value (just my prejudice).
The criteria are... Somewhere around £2k up to about £4k; not a dinky, dinky, girly watch; nothing too bling (not lots of sparkly bits etc); metal bracelet preferred and she thinks bi-metal so will go with silver or gold jewelery; classical look, not trendy - needs to look like a watch; can do second hand but being a girl probably prefers new!
To give you a flavour, we like the Jaeger Le Coultre reverso look and she doesn't see herself as a Rolex girl
Thanks, James

The Chanel J12 Automatic is one of "The Watches" of the moment in the ladies world. Bit like the Rolex Daytona SS is for us lads.
Although in saying that, the Rolex sports watches seem to be rather popular too. My Mrs loves wearing my Sumbariner, and it does liik rather good on her pretty wrist too
Many of the Cartier ladies models seem popular too.
Worn by many a classy famous lass.

The ladies version of the Omega Seamaster is a bit little but the normal one should look great.
My missus loves hers.
And there is now a smaller version of the PO chrono - but not really in the style of the reverso My missus loves hers.
Now I know she said she doesn't really want the hassle of winding it up, but it's hardly a chore. In fact, I love that you have that interaction with the engineering. The wife never wore a watch until she met me and she has easily got into the habit of a quick wind in the morning.
As with the Omega, she loves it and wears it often.
She also has a JLC Ideale with diamonds but that's a lot more girly and dressy.
Here's a few pics of hers from a previous thread - sorry for the obvious whoring on my part http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

I think it's already been said but if that's what she likes then get her a Lady Reverso. IMO, they are about the most elegant and classy of all ladies mechanical watches. They're not auto though.http://www.jaeger-lecoultre.com/la/en/watches/reve...

not automatic so she'll have to remember to wind it daily which is a real fanatic's type of thing, not a ladies idea of ease of use I reckon
I don't know if I'd go so far as to call it a fanatics thing - just wind it when you put it on, it takes a few seconds - but yes, it's not what a lady might call 'ease of use'.Strangely Brown said:

I like the sporty looked PO, but not really smart enough for evening wear. The Sinn is classical, but in a functional sort of way and a bit manly. Other Omegas are nice and will try those on her. Cartier Tank does not do much for me and looks a bit clunky next to Reverso. Maybe we end up with a Reverso in quartz, but that seems a bit sad to me (the quartz bit)!

If i were you, the money would be in an automatic reverso. They are simply stunning. Explain it to her, as if it were a classic ferrari that wont start. It's all part of the fun
The Lady Reverso is not an automatic, it's a manual wind. Did you mis-type and that is actually what you meant?Strangely Brown said:
