i havent been asked to be godfather.. the git.

but i would like a nice gift like a bottle of whiskey or wine, etc.

what will age well for 18 years and be still drinkable for him? (the son not the father)

I found that at 18 the main thing I wanted was a hot 18 year old girl.

Actually the same still stands now.

However there could be some issues with practicality here.

What kind of a value of present are you looking at?

A baby. You need a baby for a christening. Everyone I've been to has had one. They even have a little paddling pool or something for it.

You're only going to be a godfather if they give you a bottle of whisky?

My daughter was christened a couple of weeks ago and her godparents bought her a bottle of rather good Krug champagne to put away for when she turns 18.

No idea how well it keeps - but hopefully someone will tell me that it doesn't, so I'll be required to open it now and drink it before it goes off wink

Having toured a couple of champagne houses I can tell you that champagne is already matured/vintage when sold, so is designed to be drunk straightaway - keeping it doesn't help. At least, that's what the guide said.

Hence the second part of your statement is true; suggest you replace it with a Bacardi Breezer and hope nobody notices smile
