Hey folks, just looking for a bit of advice on which programs and set ups to use for building my business website.

I did use squarespace previously for my old "blog type" personal website but i'd like to use something a bit more flexible to fully customizelize for the business side of things.

Have heard people using Joomla (?) before, does that come recommended?

Am i better to have an offline editor that i can keep a copy of everything there or is it fine to do it all online these days?

Your help is much appreciated,
Olie

There is many different products around. I think that it would really depend on what you want out of your site.

I would recomend Wordpress ( www.wordpress.org ), with a little work you can customise it to nearly any need. There is also a whole list of addons available to expand its use.

I personally found Joomla very bulky and hard to use compaired to Wordpress.

Well the site itself will have an explanation of the business, services offered, prices, all static pages.

Would like the possibility of adding an online shop, showing stock availability and ordering (Not essential to start with)

And the possibility of adding a forum at a later date too.

From looking at Wordpress that's geared towards blogging, am i correct? Looking for something more basic i think.

Website X5 can do all of what you have just listed.

I created www.bubbletubs4u.com for a family friend with it.

Ok this site is prob a million miles from your site but i hope you will get the idea
