Running TVRs is costly and one of my first priorities after purchase of my Chimaera was to find someone reliable, honest and knowledgeable to service the car.

I know this guy is often plugged on PistonHeads(and deservedly so) but just to add my recommendation that David Batty at The Garage (near Guildford) is top drawer.

He knows the cars inside out loves the marque and doesn't charge the earth. 24,000 mile service just cost £350 (ex VAT). Well worth the travel across from south east London even if I did have to get up at 5.45am Monday morning to beat the traffic!!!

I picked up his details from earlier threads - thanks for the tip guys!!!

Just popped over there at lunchtime..............driving light succumbed to the stone chips at last.......

............phew, lost count of the number of Griffs and Chimaera's lined up for Dave's TLC.

Much admired the Moonraker Black Griff he was trying to get perfect. In fact I think "Perfectionist" is his middle name! But always seems to be on the right wavelength to make sensible decisions on what requires attention. Always takes the trouble to explain everything too!

That's right. I popped over there for a quote having been told on the phone by him that I'd have to take pot luck as to when he could find the time to talk to me when I arrived as he was so busy.

However, when I arrived he saw me almost immediately and took a good 30 mins to talk with me, look at my car and explain everything to me. Top bloke.

Can't comment on his work as I haven't had any done yet, but I think there are enough other testimonials around to make that of no importance!

David has been looking after my car since I bought it a couple of years ago, this includes a few services and a whole new driveshaft (2 days after I bought it). He has also carried out lots of bits and pieces that I wanted done (new dash etc) and I don't have any complaints. I drive from Essex to Guildford everytime so I think that says it all. Top bloke!

Dropped my car this morning for a quick check - the idle went weird on Sunday afternoon but it was fine on Monday and this morning. Most of the cars you see there are Adrian Blyth's cars - Dave does all the preparation / servicing work for him. I saw that Black griff you are talking about, very tasteful interior. Also, saw a lovely Atlantis Halcyon Chimaera.
All this to say: agree with you, top bloke
