Morning,

I need some recommendations for some free pc audit software. We have 7 laptops at the school which all came from the same image 8 months ago. I want to run a quick scan to make sure they are all patched to the same level, have the same versions of software etc.

Anyone got any good suggestions.

Cheers

D

Try Belarc Advisor - http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html
or WinAudit - http://www.pxserver.com/WinAudit.htm

ETA - Just noticed Belarc's free version is for home use only, if you want to stay legal go for WinAudit.

To make sure they all have no end of life programs, google secunia psi. I'm not sure if it's free for commercial use but it's a fantastic program to have on your own pc. You wont be disappointed. wink

Another vote for Spiceworks. Can be a bit overwhelming, and sometimes a bit fiddly to get working across all the workstations, but it's very comprehensive.

Installed it about an hour ago. It's already been very useful

I too was gobsmacked at how comprehensive spiceworks was - and all for free. OK - you get a few annoying little adverts but they don't detract from what is an excellent product.

Standard installation now for us whenever we take over a site.
