OK. So I've got a pair of VideoLogic Sirocco Spirit speakers and instead of changing them altogether, I'd like to try some "homebrew" upgrades!

I'd like to replace the main drivers with something more substantial and upgrade the tweeters which I've been told are crap!

The amp however I've been told on the Sirocco speakers is very good, so I figured upgrading could be an interesting option.

I should be able to fit mostly any 105mm driver and 60mm tweeter so what's recommended within a reasonable price range that would improve the sound significantly?

For reference, specs are here: http://www.videologic.com/Factsheets/VL-60394.pdf

However here is a summary:

50 watts RMS per channel
Bass/mid frequency drive unit: Audax 4" cone.
High frequency drive unit: Audax 10 mm polymer dome.

Good luck in finding anyone here who might be able to make sensible suggestions , this is after all a car forum ! Try the DIY section of Pink Fish where some keen experts might have an idea. Personally I do not think that you can make a "significant" improvement to those active speakers and that any money spent buying drivers would be better spent buying replacements bamp/speakers.

Apologies for being negative but IMHO replacing the drivers will not be a worthwhile upgrade. The Sirocco's work very well for the money and unless you really don't get on with their sound I'd stick with them.
I measured one of early VideoLogic Sirocco Systems in the late 90s, using B&K test gear in an anechoic chamber, it was the sub/sat version with outboard amp but the satellite drivers are the same as yours. The Audax 4" paper bass driver is fine and the active crossover does a good job of hiding the limitations of the low cost polymer tweeter too.
Uprgrading with better drivers won't be cheap ~ the output sensitivity of any upgrade drivers would have to be a match for the original Audax units; at the very least their relative output levels should match the originals to make the sound levels of the revised system balanced from LF to HF. It's possible to do what you're proposing but it would be very easy to spend £40 ~ £60 on better drivers and to make your speakers sound much worse than what you have now.

Try giving Wilmslow Audio a call. They were very helpful when I did a self build several years ago and mentioned that upgrading current enclosures was part of their work.
