I used a tool to recover files from an old HD. The files are gibberish to me (not word.doc files, but I found the one file I was looking for.

rebilling.asd
Not rebilling.doc irked
google tells me .asd files are auto save document files, for word.

I have the one file I need, I think.
But word wont open it. Word CAN open it though, I think. Anyone know for sure?

Apparently word looks for these files in folders on startup, and then recovers them back into word.doc format, giving you the choice to save them I gather.

I found this
http://www.justanswer.com/questions/17xdz-1-temp-f...
which said:

"To see exactly where Word 2007 saves the asd files on your computer (and to change the location if you like), click the Office Button > Word Options > Advanced. > General > File Locations > AutoRecover Files"

I cant find/see the AppData folder though.

So, questions:
1) Is that folder hidden?
2) Can i put my asd file into the appdata folder, and hope word will recover it?
3) Can anyone here recover the rebilling.asd file if I give it to them? biggrin
