Everyone got their update?

I updated my Vodafone HTC Magic with the new Android firmware - version 1.6 (AKA Donut) last night. Had to do it manually as I was fed up with waiting for the automatic update.

It's very good.

Beyond the obvious stuff, like the updated Market and Camera apps, it's an awful lot quicker. The keyboard now doesn't appear to lag at all, and the browser is much snappier too. The screen rotate is almost instantaneous.

In fact, it's kinda how it should have been in the first place. It's saved the phone from either custom firmware (for the time being!) or eBay, as it was getting very frustrating. smile

Well, it's made useful switchers unusable irked

Plus, this might just be me, I haven't properly measured it yet, but I'm pretty sure the batter performance has degraded a little since I installed Donut.

Is there a quick way of toggling the brightess of the screen without digging into the settings?

There is a nice widget that does this built into Donut. It is called power control and has 5 buttons on to control GPS, brightness etc.

I've noticed this as well. I thought my battery was about to give up the ghost and I've been looking for my spare! Shan't bother now, cheers. thumbup

Long press and hold on a blank bit of desktop. > Widgets > Power Control

There're some nice new features in this update!

Interesting, in a geeky way, is the power chart.

Go to Settings > About Phone > Battery use

Shows a chart of where your battery power goes!

40% on Wi-Fi! yikes I'll be switching that off then (unless at home and downloading stuff)...
