SWMBO has ordered that I can't buy any new games until I have got rid of some of my others, which is a shame as I need (yes, NEED) FIFA 10. Forza 3 and that new GTA game.

What are the trade in prices on games in gamestation like?

I'll be moving on mirrors edge, racedriver grid, GTA IV, assassins creed, ace combat 6: fires of liberation and FIFA 08.

What trade in can I expect?

Have to agree with that.... I was going to trade in Mirrors Edge, Resistance, COD WOW. Not the best games ever but £1 each for 1st two and £10 for COD. Needless to say i didnt bother, eBay all the way or sell to a mate

You'd probably get a much better response with a "Who wants what" in the forum.

Trade in is painful and best avoided... (although this does lead to a situation where I have a VERY large stack of PS2 games that I really should have gotten rid of a while ago while they were still worth more than the boxes...)

As said you will get f'all for them. Best to do a Who wants what post and flog them off at £5/£10/£15 each.

Don't trade in, I made that mistake today. 30 odd PS3 games for £92.60, it's not worth the hassle. You're better off trying to sell them off privately.

Gamestation 'beats any trade in price' - including CEX (usually by £1)

Quite a lot better, in a lot of instances. A recent example - they offered £25 for Arkham Asylum while Gamestation only offered £18. The flipside is that you pay more to buy games in CEX.

You can play it to your advantage though. Gamestation will match CEX's prices and add £1 - so you can work out what you can get from them by checking on CEX's website what they pay, printing off the screenshot with their price and then taking it into Gamestation.

I normally get rid of mine on Ebay. You tend to get a good price compared to trading in

I used to do the same - but it is less attractive now than it used to be since ebay:

(a) jacked up the final price commission to 10%; and

(b) made you offer free P&P.

(Yes, I know you can work around the latter but, unless you've got something that is out of the ordinary and can't be bought from umpteen other sellers, no-one is going to buy from you if you're charging P&P on a game).

I also sell through the AV Forums classifieds but prices there seem to be quite a bit lower than on ebay, so it often doesn't work out any better.

Would it not be an idea to sticky a place for trading games? I enjoy trading between PHers as I generally trust posters on here.

I'll take Ace Combat smile

Have been after that in Game for a while, but they haven't had any copies for some time. I can never be bothered to order it either.

PH rules wont let you... i did a 'clearout' thread and as soon as it was spotted it was deleted and i was sent a stern email.... OOPs, i didnt think about the 'no use for personal benefit' rule!

Well, my offer stands for Ace Combat. Nice crisp tenner here. Although all depends on whether you specifically need to get rid of other games to fund the new one.
