Just a quick one to let you all know that on another well know BMW forum a scammer managed to get in under the radar! The admin and mods of the site have been 100% excellent and delt with the matter very well.

Unfortunetly three of us had money taken from us.

We are working with people to resolve this issue.

Just wanted to spread the word, please do take a very close look at who you are buying from when offered something on any forums you use.

Thanks

Mark

Good heads-up.

I have an Internet Explorer/Firefox plugin that intercepts potential scam-threats, based on key words in PM's and forum messages. It works really well and can be yours for only £20. I only take payment by Western Union.

basicly he is a lad in newcastle, seems and sounds totaly genuine.. everything goes down the right route, email address, telephone number, bank account details all adding up to it being him etc.

around 200 posts on the forum so wasnt a new member

Basicly he contacted us regarding are wanted add's we had put up saying he had the bits etc, the price was right etc and didnt seem silly cheep like most scams etc.

Basicly, the item does not turn up.. but he dont get your money then drop you, he will reply to your pm's etc for two weeks with me, said there was a postal strike and i know it didnt affect parcel force as I contacted them.

When I saw the thread title I thought the OP meant 'scammers' as in the pratnership, lol. They post in SP&L so be warned if you go in there.

Someone on here posted about the same scam happening on an MG/Rover forum, the mods ended up deleting the thread iirc.

Remember that we don't allow advertising on the forums - so if he was trying to scam - then it would be through the classifieds.

If you can send the details to RacingPete, then he might be able to do something.

But not this weekend, as he'll be otherwise engaged smile

fking scammers are everywhere....

Checked my Bank balance on line today..... Mmmm thats odd £368 quid to www.shadestation

Check that the wife hasn't used her card... Nope...

Not me either... ring the bank... Yep, its an unauthorised transaction, and there have been 5 more attempts at other purchases in the £100's of pounds...

I never ever use this debit card, for online purchases... Only for Cash withdrawals and fuel..

But someones got the detailsfrownfrown
That will be fuel then - ranks close to ATM's for card fraud. Dont ask me why though! wink

Something to do with the 'type' that normally run them maybe?
