Just moved into a house where there are some carports. Totally out of view from any other property or pathway etc.

I was thinking it would be nice to get some wooden barn door style doors on them to up the security a little.

Is this possible without having to go through council planning?

advice appreciated.

How high do you want the gates? full height to the eaves of the car port? Maybe get it on permitted development if not full planning.

I think the answer will depend on the local planning authority, and the only way to know for sure is to ask the appropriate planning officer.
