Ok so, I just saw an episode of "How clean is your house" with those strange ladies.

Now I find the program quite entertaining as background noise while doing work on the laptop / doing feck all... however one thing pops up time and time again that does not seem to make sense.

Every program, the one wth the glasses takes a swab from a kitchen surface or bathroom, and comes back with some lab results about bacteria levels and stuff.

Now I fully understand that most kitchens shown in the programs are absolutely fking disgusting, however they keep saying things like -

"This contains blahdeblahcoli strain 7 lot42 - this will kill you"

"This sample contains the essence of rich1231, making you hate yourself and everyone else - it will kill you"

"This sample contains strains of arsecheese bacterium, it will kill you"

Always "IT WILL" kill you.

So why, even after these people have been living in the filth they are, has nobody ever died from instantly walking into the room?

Surely if "IT WILL" kill you, then that is what it does....

They rarely say "might" kill you or "should" kill you, normally IT WILL.

Any biologists care to comment? I don't believe for one second that living in that filth is good for you, but the people living there have done so for years without apparently any ill effects.

I don't often swab floors before cleaning a customers carpet - otherwise I would...

Oh, well. If that's the case, it's back to the Yellow Pages. I was specifically looking for a carpet cleaner who'd swab the floors and tell me all the germs present that would kill me on sight.

Bugger.

I always look forward to anything with Professor Hugh Pennington commenting on it, if you add up all the possible deaths he predicts we should be extinct 10 times over.

He must be a great laugh at parties!
