I think I'd go for the Scirocco too, on the basis that it's probably a more daily-driver friendly car than the Focus, and I would never buy either as a second car because they're both far too dull and sensible.

I think the Scirocco for when four seats are needed and my Elise for when they aren't, would make a pretty good combination. I might even consider one for the other half if they've depreciated sufficiently by the time her Punto dies.

Scirocco R gets my vote on looks alone, seen loads of standard Scirocco's around the last few months have to say they look lovely so a quick one would be amazing.

Only having driven the Mazda3 MPS both with and without AeroKit I'd probably pick that as it's pretty rapid, but purely on magazines and tv stuff it's got to be the Focus!

Megane R26-R isn't on that list, sadly. That's quite a depressing list of modern hot hatches. None of them stand out for me.

None of the above. It would probably be the Fiat Panda 100 or 500 Abarth, mainly because they are narrow cars and so much easier to drive quickly down country lanes. No point having something fast if you have to drive it slowly.

The R26-R isn't really a hot hatch though, in any meaningful sense. It only has two seats.

If I had to choose it would be the Scirocco R, but I'm not really a massive fan of any of those cars.

Not a very good list

Unfortunatly, none.

Because I don't live on a council estate, have an Adidas tracksuit or a cap with the peak at the back. wink

Crackers. Are you people chosing on retained value, corporate office carpark kudos and what the parents at the school gates would like?

Subaru. Without a doubt- just think the Focus (although tweaked) is 'nice'. The Scirocco? Ranks alongside the Brera for nice IMO wink

Subaru for raw PH-appeal anyday. biggrin
confused Except the new Imprezza has had decidedly mediocre reviews all 'round and the Scirocco and RS have had universally good ones.

I would go for the RS, as i used to have the Mk 1 RS too, I saw a white one recently and thought it looked pretty good.

Focus RS or Megane R26-R for me. Tough to pick between them but I voted Focus.

didn't include the normal array of £15k hot hatches, concentrated on the upper end of the market for new cars. The golf R has yet to open its order book so not included.

the above list all seem to be above 22K with the right options, the megane and mazda being the cheapest.
