Could anyone enlighten me on how to get the little adapters off the spark plugs which connect the spark plugs to the HT leads????
Do they just pull off?
Cheers

Ok, next question, What do you do if the last f***ing spark plug will not screw back in no matter what and you have tryed the others to see if they will go in and they won't either ???????

If the thread in the head has been knackered you can get it Helicoil inserted, but I think the head has to come off for that.

On my '97 500, the extenders are a push fit. Although being a few years old, a couple of mine were held on by willpower alone.

Mine just pulled off, but then fell to pieces. Probably because of the heat, but watch it they are a fiver each!!!

Not easy to damage the thread that badly unless you've cross threaded it and then forced it. Should screw in with fingertip pressure, engage the thread by turning the plug backwards (as if undoing it) until it clicks, then it should go straight in. If it won't, it's probably because you haven't got the plug quite straight, not easy to see when the plug is right at the back of the engine bay.

Hope this helps,

Ok, drove to Halfords and the thread chaser kit they had was not big enough, but they said if I cut grooves into one of the old spark plugs it would do the same thing. I have done this and still can not get it to go in, I can see in the hole and I think as Quinny correctly says the top couple of threads have gone a bit funny, Any other ideas? There is over a cm of good thread in there, just need to get it to bite!!????
Really starting to worry me now as I have just had the clutch done and really can not afford anything else!!
Cheers

RCA, please don't take this the wrong way - but are you really confident that sorting this out is within your capabilities?
I only ask as the current situation *may* still be recoverable by someone skilled in the task. On the other hand if you continue & it all goes pear shaped the thread will be wrecked & it'll be a head off job to fix it.
Don't think your babies heads are the best place to practice repairing threads!
The least costly solution might be to get the car off to one of the specialists for a look (unless you know any mechanics that you trust).
Sorry to piss on your bonfire.
