Suggestions pls - Dubai then................???

Looking to head away for 10 days or so via Dubai (we'll spend 3 days at the start of the holiday visiting friends there) then a week somewhere else, so far we've thought of the Seychelles, Maldives or Malaysia but haven't ruled anything in or out other than the 3days in Dubai at the beginning.

Any tips/suggestions/shared experiences would be much appreciated.

I've been reccomended, Dubai, then KL, then Langkawi for a weeks R and R, has anyone been to Langkawi? Any hotel/accomodation recommendations would be gratefully received.

hi mate, i did 5 days in Dubai then a week in the maldives on an island called kuredo last year. it was absolutely superb, couldnt fault it.

I've done Dubai - Maldives twice, Dubai - Bali, Dubai - KL. All very different, Maldives is ultimate private island getaway - perfect for relaxing and unwinding with great food and diving on the side - but mega £££, Bali is a cheap beach getaway, with some hidden gems if you use your time in the north side of the island, KL is a Hot humid bustling city with very keenly priced high quality Accomodation (recommend the executive floors in the Hilton - tv in the shower was cool!) and plenty to see.

How much do you want to spend in the week after Dubai, and what type of hol are you after?

Dont go to Dubai if you're a fan of The Flintstones. A poll showed that people from Dubai dont like The Flintstones.

But people from Abu Dhabi do.

I'd vote for Maldives, but don't forget you can do Dubai-Mauritius or Joburg/Cape Town too!

Looking for a decent place to chill out for a week, 4/5 star hotel with a Spa (for the missus) in a scenic location would do the trick. Someone mentioned to me heading to KL from Dubai, doing a couple of days sighseeing in KL and then heading to Langkawi for a week - has anyone done this trip?

Would be interested to hear more about Maldives, Mauritius etc.

Dubai is good for a few days to see the touristy bit. the Maldives is a fantastic place. A proper place to relax and do nothing more than sun bath, eat and drink. However, there are plenty of watersports to keep you busy if you're into that sort of thing.
Pick your Island carefully though. Many now have live entertainment and that sort of thing, whereas others have nothing...depends on what you want.
Oh, and if you dive...as someone else mentioned, Manta Bay or Point, is a must...brilliant experience.
