Dark line on an LCD...mura?

The above pic is a bit like what my folks have on their 5 yr old LCD...a dark blur about 9 inches long...on a very white image (snow) it goes away but on anything else it shows as a dark long blurr.

Any ideas/fixes?

Looks pretty terminal to me. I would hazard a guess that the ccfl tubes are on the way out as the light doesnt look even. Is it a 32"? If so then not worth repairing so a new one could be in order.
