windows 7 start menu

is there a way to configure the start ment so that the list of programs appears alongside it and fully expanded (like it does in xp) when you hover or click over "all programs" please, cant find a reference anywhere in the help files

You can't within Windows 7 as far as I know but to get the start menu to look like the one in XP you'll need to download a third party program that will do it. I can't recommend anything myself but if you search Google for something like windows xp start menu in windows 7 you should get a load of hits for something that will do it.
