Depends on your budget.

The PC you have listed has a few problems.

The Graphics card will be very much out of date in 2 years time if you want to play the lastest games.

The Operating System, 99% of new pcs should be shipped with Win7. Not Vista!!

What else will the pc be used for? (e.g. Movie/Music storage etc)
What sort of games do you play?
What is your budget?
Any prefered brand name?

Go for Windows 7. Runs games slightly faster.

I'll reiterate what e36rob said.

What is your budget? Then we can find you something suitable.

(I'm thinking i3 or Phenom x2 and a 5670 minimum?)

If you are looking for a gamer what you have is not too great. Should be looking at an i5 Cpu, 6gb of DDR3 and at least an HD5780. Look for a fast HD as the main drive with a larger one for backup and storage. Like the others have said it is all about budget

700-800 can get you a better machine than listed. Also those catalogues tend to have poor PCs really although if you need the finance then I guess you're limited to places offering it.

just an example of what your money can buy you.

£150 for 22"-24" Widescreen LCD http://www.ebuyer.com/product/161787

£600 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prod... + Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. Save £70+ if you got a mate who can sort you out with a free copy of Windows.

nVidia 9800GT is "great for gaming"? I don't think so - that card is getting a bit long in the tooth even now. You'll be wanting a 200-series like a GTX 260 I'd say. GTX 285 if the budget will run to it.

Also, there is no reason at all to have Vista over Windows 7. My choice would be either Windows XP Pro or Windows 7. But not Vista.
