Hi,
I need to sell my Corvette C5, the spec is as follows...

2000 UK Supplied Corvette C5 6 Speed Manual.
36K Miles, Full service history, fully loaded (HUD, sports electric seats, Dual Zone Air Con, Active Handling etc), Torch Red, Custom Built blue Flame Stainless Steel exhaust, Private "C5" plate, Z06 engine cover, air-intake and rear lights.

Beautiful beautiful car, gutted that it's gotta go. I need to sell it to get the deposit together for our new house (just moved to the south! ).

I'm looking for £23,500 or very near offer. I'm genuinely disappointed to have to do this, and I'm only doing it on the understanding that once I have sorted everything out I'll be able to buy another C5. I can't stress how gorgeous this car is. It needs nothing at all. Just been serviced too. If you want a C5, this is as good as you'll find...

Anyone interested? e-mail me at col@evil-empyre.com

...Or, of course, you could just reply here, if you're interested!

This is my third Corvette - my first was a 1982 Crossfire model. Gutted to get rid of that one, too, but it seems that my vettes are the first thing to suffer when we need to climb the property ladder.

Before I bought my first C5, I'd been to see a few. There are some really rough ones for sale these days! But this one is like brand new. You really would struggle to tell it is 3 years old.

The difference the manual gearbox makes is also immense. My previous C5 was an auto, and, although it was very good, it just doesn't have the speed or the sound of this one. Honest to god, it sounds like a racing car.

I hope you can all tell just how **gutted** I am to have to sell this car. Property prices in the south (Surrey area) are nothing short of ridiculous, and I'm just not armed to deal with that without giving up something else I love.

Alternatively, if someone fancies donating approx £10K to the Colvette relocation fund so I can keep my vette, it'd be much appreciated. I'd even name my first born after you!

What I'd like to know is where were all these lovely manual vettes when I was looking!?

A couple of years ago I was just about to buy a C5 before the owner changed his mind. I only wanted that one becuase it was a 6-speed. After that I looked at a few autos before losing interest.

Before that, when I was looking for a late C4 I looked for about 9 months and there were no manuals for sale (apart from one or two ridiculously overpriced examples that wanted about 5 or 6 grand more than the equivalent auto) so I ended up buying an auto.

When I saw my Callaway for sale, if it had been an auto I wouldn't have even looked at it.

Col, your car looks like a steal especially when there's a 98 C5 6-speed on Autotrader with 60,000 miles for £24,500. Not quite sure where that price came from because the 98 6-speed I was going to buy was MINT (had to emphasise that - it was like new) with 10,000 miles for £21,000 - 2 years ago. Mind you I have posted here before that I think C5 s are dearer than they were (for the moment...)

Auto owners don't take offence (you're the majority!) manual is my personal preference. You're probably wondering why someone would bother shifting gears and paying fortunes for a clutch every so often when you can just sit back, hit one pedal and probably be quicker in general driving with no possible missed shifts!

I would suggest that mine is probably as mint as the one you mention - I'm a stickler for details, and my car is just utterly spotless.

You're right about the manual, though - I realise most vette owners are auto owners, but I do know a few who own autos who wish they had manuals but simply couldn't find them when it came to it. I did exactly the same thing, but I bought the auto to "tide me over" until I could find a suitable manual.

Thanks for your support on the price. I was wondering how my pricing was, I figured it was fine, but you never know - the market seems to change so much at the moment.

I'm really heartbroken it's gotta go too. You know when you just keep looking at things and trying to work out different ways to get to the same destination? Rubbish house prices in the SE are just killing me!

I'll be back, though - just like arnie!

GSM - it is a shame you can't get this earlier. It really is too good to miss! Grab my mobile number from Autotrader - gimme a call in June and see if I still have it (I hope not! )

'scuse the stupid previous post (I never grew up, that's why I've got a vette).

So if you're moving down to Surrey I presume we'll see you at the Surrey meet? It's the last Tuesday of each month - sure someone will chime in if I've got that wrong - I'm not exactly local to Surrey but it's worth the trip.

We'll soon get you into another vette...
