Trackday tires?

We are really getting into trackdays in a big way and arent going to buy a more track orientated car till sometime next year. So i was thinking a good way to upgrade the R turbo was to get some new rubber.
Currently the tire choice i am going for is the michelin pilot sports used by the Supercup GT3's. These are absolutely fantastic but i think too comprimised for everyday use. i.e if it rains....
I was thinking perhaps we should buy a set of turbo alloys and fit those with the michelins, as currently the michelins only come in size 18 and they will be cheaper too.
We are currently running Yokohma 19's and they last a long time but other than that they are left wanting on the track imho.
Will we be faced with a loss of grip downsizing from 19 to 18? the obvious advantages are huge though, lower unsprung weight, and i think there would be moregrip as these michelins are supposed to be superb?
Swapping the wheels before each trackday- from everday use yokos to the michelins would be the strategy? And will the turbo alloys fit with 380mm brakes?

We really like driving the car, and each trackday we attend we get that little bit better with the car, its potential is so deep and our skills are definetley left wanting, but we get better each time, i think that by hiring cars you get a great experience and you dont have to worry about insurance and other costs, but you never get used to the cars and fully exploit them to your limits and the cars.

I've use three track-spec tyres on my 993RS, each with different characteristics. You mentioned you've used the Michelin Sports - I presume you mean the Sport Cups which are the semi slicks (rather than the Sports which are a normal road tyre). Anyway my views:
Michelin Cups are awesome in the dry but need a fair bit of heat to start to get going. They can be a bit of a handlful in wet conditions (but not as much as some would say), but come standing water they are truly rubbish!
Pirelli P-Zero Corsas (not P0Cs which are different) are better in the wet, have more tread and therefore life in them and are a pretty godd all round track tyre. They are directional / asymetric which means that unlike the Cups above you cannot switch the left and right tyres to balance tread wear. On some tight circuits in the UK you can therefore end up with your left tyres wearing very quickly.
Dunlop SP Race - I have only used them in the wet but they are very good. The best "track" tyre in standng water conditions. Yet to try them in the dry.
At the moment I've got a set of rims on Cups and one with Corsas and Dunlops. The Dunlops are the cheapest of the three so I can see them being permanently on the wet set.

The Pirelli's on the 360 Challenge Stradale and 911 GT3RS are different to normal P-Zero Corsa's. From the rave reviews of the two cars and the fact that the tyres arent getting such a universal slating like the Pilot Sport Cups that M3 CSL wears, the Pirelli's seem to be the one's to go for.
I think there's a thread on the rennlist forums about this Adam...i'll have to find it for you.
