996 power induction kit

just seen an advert for a power induction kit in the classified section and was wondering if it damages the engine. seem 2 remember reading on here about oil getting into filter etc etc and not being worth the change. just that i fancy beefing up the engine sound a bit. also claims to increase bhp by about 8. could that be true?
