I loathe her.
The same Hazel Blears who made a big show of appearing on television after the CGT flipping scandal waving a cheque and saying, "I've now written a cheque to the taxman". I thought, hmm, well either you owed the tax in the first place and you didn't pay it, which is tax evasion - a criminal offence - or you don't owe the tax and the money will go on as a credit, rendering your "gesture" meaningless.
I didn't think you could just pay the taxman money you didn't owe.

Exactly.
