Mr Laws said: “I regret this situation deeply, accept that I should not have claimed my expenses in this way and apologise fully.”
Well that makes it all ok then.
I'll try something like that next time I'm caught speeding.

fk sake, we have a whole thread of match.com PHers who can't get action and miniature action man hairdo guy gets fanny up to his eyebrows.
I guess you haven`t read the whole article, that`s the one thing he wasn`t gettingLike the bit about "we`re not living as spouses, we have different bank accounts" so that`s ok then ?.....probably why he considers himslf a liberal, bring back ( the late ) Jeremy
Matthew Parris was crowing over the greatness of David Laws in The Times the other day. I've always liked Matthew Parris, and his judgement seems generally sound, and his description of Mr Laws ("flinty, unsentimental and brusque") made me think that he sounded just the ticket.
But, interestingly, Matthew Parris was the man who outed Peter Mandelson on national radio! And now, mere days (if that) after he gives the thumbs up to this chap... the same thing! (i.e., national coverage of what was previously a private matter, if no doubt an open secret among his colleagues.)
My personal takeaway point from all of this is simple: if I can spot this, anybody can. Any secretly gay MP who doesn't instantly resign the moment he comes under the eye of Matthew Parris is clearly a few cans short in the judgement department. So David Laws, despite my initial positive thoughts due to Parris's recommendation, has now totally gone down in my estimation
(Edit: thinking about it, I suppose I should be offended that he's had his snout in the public trough. But, somehow, I just can't get myself worked up about this... I'm just too used to it by now, and all I can see is the amusing side )
