One of my '92 Grif electric window motors has stopped working. Test light says it's getting current to it, the motor is trying to work but the cog/cable arrangement is jammed solid. I think it was caused by the 3 drain holes at the bottom of the door getting clogged, rain immersed the cog/cable.
Does anybody know which other car I could get one from? I know a 1990 "S" window motor is from a 800 Rover, but it's not the same as the Grif. Peter Beech's Alternative Parts List doesn't say.
Approx £140 from a TVR dealership so it will be a good one to know for owners of Grif/Chimearas.
ps. check your drain holes are clear!

No idea i am afraid. It does remind me about a problem I had (which apparently is quite common). If you lower the windows until they clunk onto the bottom stop it gradually bends the stop out of the way (it's a bent bit of metal!). Eventually it can get past the stop and drop out of it's guide rail. Hey presto the window sticks down and it's a bugger to sort out. I was advised to stop it just short of this to avoid future problems. Just thought you might like to know.
Tried the local scrappy's today, they didn't know but I had a look at a few suggested possibilities.
"J" Plate Ford Granada had a very similiar unit, the electric motor part (Bosch) appears to be the same but the drive gear part was a bit different - driving a lever arrangement instead of a cable type.
Looked to me that swapping the drive gear from the TVR unit could be a possibility.
If just your Bosch electric motor has packed up,you should be okay for a straight swap and a BIG saving if the usual "Call it a Bluey to you mate" is the price!
I'm going split mine and see if i can free it first.

Success, stripped cleaned amd regreased the original motor and drive cog unit, back together and all working. Easier written than done.
It's worthwhile noting where packing washers are used and on which bolts when you strip the lifting mechanism. They keep it all in the correct plane so it moves smoothly on reassembly. A hard learnt lesson!
Bought the spare electric motor from the scrappy's as a back up, guess how much? £5 and a wry smile!
