Well I was in Germany.

I covered 500 miles like that so I got used to to it - slowing for the traffic and restricted zones as needed. You could just cocentrate on driving. Quite tiring, but you do concentrate! The road manners of most Germans on the A-Bahn was far better than here - such an approach would not work in the UK, I know that, but it does make you think though, here that would have cost me my licence and I would have been made to feel very criminal.

I remember one of my 'friends' telling me the same story (as the title) but it happened in England and the exact speed was approaching an indicated 1.2 leptons. This was many years ago and he was racing a Saxo VTS and he was in an Uno Turbo but had his rather large mate in the passenger seat and so the race was quite equal.

It happened on a dual carriageway and from the traffic lights it went uphill slightly. It was only when at the top of the hill that he saw a police car with full flashing lights on had pulled someone over in a layby (possibly for speeding?).

Luckily he and the VTS decided it was more sensible to keep going and to turn off at the next set of lights rather than to try and slow down.

"Knicked" ... is that something to do with a New York basketball team? - Streaky

Back in 1990 I was coming down the M6 somewhere just south of Penrith at about midnight with the cruise control set at about 115. There was just me and a set of rear lights in the distance. As my dipped headlights illuminated the car ahead at about 150 yards distance my heart sunk as I saw it was a fully liveried police Volvo cruising at probably 70.

I dabbed the brakes then let go of them to save going past him with my brake lights on. I would say I was still doing close to 100 as I sailed past him - and he ignored me smile

Few years ago, coming back from a girl id knock boots with at 4am round the north circular, I flew past a junction , 80mph in a 30 zone, I saw the whole area light up with the most beautiful blue for a few seconds. Thinking id been rumbled, I pulled over, and a couple of minutes later a police car (small vauxhall runabout, not a trafpol iirc) pulled up. They asked me why I stopped, they said I went soo fast that they didnt see the numberplate or even the type of car, and told me to slow down and to basically fo.

got pulled on the A30 in Sunningdale a number of years ago, most of the road is national speed limit ( I think it was anyway) got pulled by plod.
I was as nice as pie, they asked me if I had been drinking, I said no, they just said "well it was a waste of time pulling you then, now drive slower next time" and sent me on way...
