...and then paste it into a Powerpoint slide.

How should I go aboout creating a timeline for a project over 12 mths, which will require inter-dependent things being done during the course of the project, with a finite deadline of mid-Dec this year.

The timeline ideally needs to be flexible so that I can slide a button to increase/ decrease the time required for particular phases of the project and see how this impacts on the rest of the timings! Hope this is clear?!

i don't have access to any fancy dedictaed Project management software, so was hoping a Word or Excel guru could help out??!

Many thanks for all advice/ input!! smile

There's no problem drawing the charts in Excel or Word (and we use everything from Word to Illustrator for this - but that's for presentation purposes, not planning), but if you're going to be spending some time on it it'll be much simpler & value for money (if you include all your time spent doing it in Excel) to invest in Microsoft Project or such.
Here's some info about the process in Excel.

I'm assuming you want a project schedule type of thing...

...rather than a 'timeline' though?

Although if it's the latter, have a look here.
