I fear i may already know your answers to this but, im 24 have no experience in running a business at all, but i am looking to start my own business, im a keen petrol head and i feel that where i live or at least within the local'ish vicinity would be an ideal place for it.

Well dont laugh but i feel that a drag strip around the essex area such as southend or thurrock would be a real winner, the reason i say these areas are that they are both full of car enthusiasts, also thurrock currently has a dispersal order in place to shift the boy racers.

Now i was thinking if a local drag strip was to open on the nights that they are mainly around, they would flock to it, there is even the possibility to get it subsidised by the local council.

I am aware that they do similar things in the states, also with car clubs wanting to do drag days and with the amount of car shows around these days there is plenty of potential to earn qui9te a bit of money.

I have spoken to a friend who works for a company that builds FIA approved race tracks and they estimate it would cost somehwere in the region of £500k for a proper full on FIA approved drag strip, thats with all the bells and whistles etc, I wouldnt be intent on building such an ellaborate track but a more modest one to start off with.

any advice or help would be appreciated

yes this was my inital concern, due to noise pollution could make it very difficult but if i can find a place secluded enough it could be possible, i have been looking into disused airfields but unbfortunatley not with much luck.

The chances of getting a new motorsport venue off the ground are very slim. When was the last one - Rockingham?

I certainly don't think your business model has a hope in hell chance as you seem to be targetting boy racers rather than professional or serious clubby drag fans.

What's your income model?

i understand what your saying, i had not intended to give the impression that boy racers were my main target, it was just one of the areas i was looking into, others would include car clubs, race series, corporate days etc.
