How does this work in terms of transferring all your stuff?
Obviously I would want to remove my profile before handing it over to a spotty oink in the shop.

Apparently they do it for you, out the back, for 15 quid.

Or you can buy a cable for 15 quid and do it your self.

Treat it like a PC and backup your data beforehand. If you have a recent system update you can do the backup using a USB memory stick. See the bottom of this page PS3 Slim Hardware spec

New firmware update now lets you back up your saves on usb sticks. Just copy it on to that, wipe your HD then trade it in and put your data on the new one.
