Outside investment

Having read with interest the Ocado fiasco, what are the barriers to a float, on either the alternative markets or one of the larger ones? In the past i've gone down the dragons den style outside investor business angel but that didn't work out.

Just very curious to be honest! Maybe we should be aceparts plc
