As per the title.

Need a pair of SATA disks for a server at home. Minimum capacity 320gb / max 500gb.

Been looking online, but can't seem to make up my mind what to go for.

Obviously, I want something reliable.

Any suggestions please?

TIA.

The trouble with hard drives are that they are going to die but you don't know when. I always go for two different types when I am buying as I used to buy two two the same only to find out later that they had problems....Seaxxxx...cxxts. If you can afford proper server drives like velociraptor (sp) go for them

I bought a Western Digital Caviar Black 500GB. £47, seems pretty good so far for me.

Samsung F3s are one of the current favourites.

Good price, quiet, reliable.

had a pair of maxtor drives a few years back, one was making noises, so backed up onto the other which then fell over and was no use to me

running seagates all the time, plus a WD green for this machine

no hassles, maxtor's returns are in south ireland, they wanted me to courier the dead bricks to them, so gave them to parcel farce as there is not a lot they could do to them, apart from lose them

A review of HD's in this month's PC pro.

Tend to be above 500 gig, but maybe an idea.
