Does anyone know if you can use a Blackberry's 3G connection to tether to a laptop or iPad?

I know this can be done using a jailbroken iPhone and MyWi but was wondering if it could be done on the BBerry.

This looks like it may work, but I don't think it simply turns your BBerry into a Wireless modem as it looks like it needs to connect to your laptop/iPad via Bluetooth or USB, which is no good for iPad.

In the Blackberry desktop manager thingy there is a IP Moden setting.

Plug the BB in via the USB cable (you can probably use BT too) and use it as a modem. It's quite slow though.

Aren't the data charges usually immense for doing this?

Depends on your contract I guess... I have "unlimited" data on my phone contract, though this is obviously subject to a fair use policy, so shouldn't cost me anything.

I believe that as long as you dont take the phish, tethered activity normally goes pretty unnoticed... If you start streaming video/downloading lots though, they will notice that this isn't being done using a mobile phone and then probably sign you up for a specific tethering bundle or charge you a shed load.
