I have tried to forget about the viper gts but I cant so I have come to the conclusion that my 350z will shortly become history if I can get the right offer and I will have to probably import a silver/blue stripe gts as the dollar is about right at the moment.Any idea what it costs approx on import duty, sva etc? Is there an approx percentage or formula I can use? thanks.

I PMd you nismobrown on the gtr board about your choice of car, and whether you chose to get a 350Z (which, obviously you did), but as a stepping-stone car, or as a permenant car and no trading up afterwards. I also recommended the Viper over the other cars you mentioned.

There was an article in the motoring section of The Times on 14th March about importing a car from USA and the costs (SVA, import duty etc), I'll try and find the supplement but it's probably in the bin now.

Rough costs are cost in dollars plus shipping (about $900 ro-ro from Baltimore), 10% import duty on the "invoice price" plus 17.5% VAT on that lot put together. Now add SVA work like fog light, side repeaters etc and the SVA test and registering to come up with a final figure.
