We've just redecorated our bedroom, in black and white and are now looking for two or three prints to put up on a white wall.

I've looked through my snaps and none particularly lend them seleves to being inblack and white.

So it looks liek we'll be buying a few.

Anyone got some good examples of black and white pictures that would look good? Or links to places with a good selection.

Cheers

Dan

I'd be more than happy to have a look at it - same goes for anyone on here - more than happy to pay for the right images.

I've asked SWMBO for guidance and apparently I can have what ever I want on them..... I imagine this is within reason - so probably rules out naked girlies.... unless they are very artistic - but cars and motroing shots are a goer, as are landscapre and cityscape.

Cheers

I'm sure there was a black & white thread but search is buggered again and I can't find it.

I'll post a couple up later but the name that springs to mind immediately from the PH massive is rhubarb and his daytime long exposures

Thanks to all three of you.

Stig - I like your - the missus unfortunatley doesn't. Apparently when she said I could choose that didn't include adverts for lemsip. Ah well.

Paul - you've got some lovely pictures in there - i've had a quick browse and there may be a couple I could be very interested in - going to have a better look tomorrow when I have more time. I'm presuming you'd be willing to sell a couple?

Same goes for the link to Rhubards pics - some very interesting suff there, again that I may be interested in, again does Rhubarb do this commercially?

To my mind the toughest test of all is something you can hang on your wall, enjoy seeing every day for years and never get tired of. In this respect paintings seem to work better than photos; not sure why.

Did you have any particular subject in mind? This would seem to be a good start.

Not so much a subject but something fairly "neutral" I guess, nothign two outlandish.

The typical sort of things you see in pretty much any shop that sells prints - piers heading out to water, moody skys, city scapes, mist shrouded trees and so on, that sort of thing - Paul has one called "Calm" in his black and white collection that I like, and Rhubard has a couple of long exposures of a pier and the sea.

The wall they're going to be hung on is completly white, in a black & white themed room.

But we wanted something slightly more unique so we're not going to see it in every show home in the country or at everyones house that we visit. Hence asking on here...

We're not really a paintings kinda house, we've got a few canvases and prints littering the place, some from photos i've taken myself, that may not be the best pictures but actually mean something to us, but also just a couple of cheap prints that we like.

For the bedroom we're looking for something that is of a pretty high quality and that we like, but that we're not going to find hung on every wall in the country!

Wall Art Cliches 2008 and 2009!

I was asked to photograph 'sun through trees in mist' a couple of years ago but it meant getting up too early! If you could get ahead of the curve you'd be rich, finding and commissioning THE image of 2011 biggrin

Thing is, if it's too obvious you get tired of it after 10 minutes.

Thanks very much, very kind of you smile. You should be able to find most of them in my Photobox account. If not, send me a PM and I’ll upload them.

Cheers
Paul

Just seen this and was going to post a link to my flickr page - but seems I've already been mentioned smile (thanks AndWhyNot) I'm by no means a commercial photographer just a keen amateur.

As Simpo Two says its ok to look at shots and say yeah that's really nice but its another thing to live with them day in day out - so it really does depend upon what you're after. By all means have a look around here or here. If there's anything you like drop me a pm.

Some lovely stuff already suggested, but I'll throw my current kitchen adornment into the mix smile Picking something you want to look at every day is indeed a real challenge, I'm struggling with this for my own house!

I have a slightly more colourful version of this 2m wide in my kitchen:

Thanks guys again - Rhubard / Paul - do either of the websites you use allow the option to print to canvas rather than just order a print as I can't seem to find that option.

Cheers

Giles, there are some stunning images there (I've previously looked and was impressed then too) - so, without you getting too big headed wink can you share any of your processing secrets/workflow as I always stuggle getting my images in B/W to look the way I want them. Even though so much of it's obviously dependent on the image itself, I assume you have standard ways of doing the conversions?
Cheers
