I'm planning on doing this at somepoint in the near future and specifically mortgages. What I want to know/speak to is anyone that has done it. I can't work out if going under someone like positive solutions would be better/worse that going it alone and taking responsibility for compliance myself etc. Pros and cons?
Also, has anyone set up recently? I'd be interested to hear your experiences and what the tough bits were as well as how you are doing at the moment as I appreciate it's a tough Market at the moment.

Well I already work for a large broker and have been in the industry for 10 years so have a great knowledge bank. Added to that around 30k brokers have left the industry since the credit crunch so there is now less competition around. With the Market on it's arse at the moment I think it's a good time to enter. From my experience people will transact loans and credit cards on the Internet but want advice when a mortgage is concerned. Direct deals have and always will be around! I'm after some real world experiences here and some encouragement rather than don't do it! There must be successful mortgage brokers out there?!

It's probably best to start with working out your rebate on a typical deal, how many of those you will close a week and contrast to the running costs of an FSA reg company.

I have to say that it sounds easier to push butter up a tiger's anus with a hot needle.
