Been looking for new guitar. I fancy an American Standard Strat, Tele or a Gibson SG. Have already got a Gibson Les Paul Standard. Really like the SG but I have not got a decent single coil. Would run to one of the re issue strats, I am left handed so will cost an arm and a leg either way. What would you go for? might get decent strat and g400 or might get SG and go for a Squire.

I too need to get a good single coil guitar but I've never been a fan of Strats so I'm looking at a vintage Tele - just hard work here in Dubai.

I recently acquired a 1980s Tokai Silver Star to go with my Explorer for the same reason. 99.5% of a Strat at less than 50% of the price.

or you could go for a PRS Mira and get single coil and SG sounds at the flick of a switch...

I also happen to know where there is a 5 month old unmarked sandstorm one with shadow birds inlays for sale at a chunk less than the 1099 it cost the owner wink

Ahh was about to PM you when I saw left handed; know of a mint SG for sale cheap, but right handed. Sure you can't swap? wink

If you have the LP go for the strat - the SG doesn't sound different enough to justify another guitar. As a lefty I feel your pain, it took me ages to find the right guitar for me ('73 SG standard).

I'd take a look at the Japanese Fenders if you can, they represent very good value and are probably better made than the US ones.

I love my highway 1 strat to bits. Lovely to play and cheaper than a standard... if you can get your head round the paint finish.

Have seen 2010 ( N3 pickups) Deluxe left handed strat, 3 colour sunburst for £1089. Think I will go for it. Would have liked to try it first, the the companies that have got it in stock are miles away. Have also ordered an Ibanez sa260 fm l to be going on with from GAK. Bit worried about this as they are the cheapest on the web (£260) but they don't have it in stock. They said about a week or so, but I have ordered cheap stuff on the web before that has been out of stock and it never turns up. Get these two guitars and I will stop buying gear for a bit. Well, just one more, perhaps................

If you already have a Gibson why not treat yourself to a guitar from these guys, http://www.heritageguitar.com/indexa.html bought one for my dad who has a lot of nice guitars and this has pride of place (wall)
