On an earlier thread I asked about budget android phones and their limitations.

Some helpful people recommended an Orange San Francisco.

All I can say is thanks. Had to buy a PAYG chip for £20 too bringing the cost up a little but the phone is amazing. Good build quality, no lagging, great screen. The camera is a bit lacklustre but I can live with that.

Uses lots of data though (I decided to use the PAYG sim while waiting for data to be activated on my main sim). The bloke in the orange shop said the PAYG tariff included a data bundle. Literally 22 mins after switching the phone on I got a message saying it'd run out of credit (remember that's £20 worth!), half an hour later I got a message from Orange saying that the data bundle would be applied later. I can't even begin to imagine how many people will be gutted by that kind of message.

So after getting increasingly sick of Orange I'm now off to Giff Gaff who can do me 300 mins, texts and internet for £15 month. Extra minutes are only 8p min.

Unlock code from ebay - £1.70.

I got an HTC Hero (otherwise rebranded as a T-Mobile G2) from T-Mobile.

800 free minutes, unlimited txts, 'unlimited' data (but the data package is VERY reasonable).

Cost? £28 per month.
