Power Bands

WTF ?

Lad at work has just returned from Oz with one of these things on his wrist..



So, as per PH, we all start ripping into him, suggesting he's turned ghey and that it looks like a dainty ladies watch.

So, he keeps on pestering me to try it on, so he can show me what it does. Resisiting the temptation to look a tt, I finally gave in.

Free of the band, I was instructed to stand with feet together and my hands cupped backwards. He then pushes down on my firm palm and I lose balance and fall. Expected.

Then we try the excercise with the Power Band on my wrist. fk ME, no matter how much he pushed on my palm, I stayed upright and he couldn't topple me.

Placebo ? God knows - but I'm seriously impressed.

IIRC it is designed to enhance the electric charge that runs round your body, to help your balance. Lots of golfers wear these things


It seems it is a placebo, but a mighty impressive one

My karate instructor has mentioned these about increasing stability. Never seen one in action though

They are odd - my brother tested me with one and I couldn't explain how the hell it made a difference

Wife came home with one of these telling me how good it was and how many sports personalities wore them. When I said they were all in the mind she asked me to try a bizarre stretch move with out the band. Then she asked me to try it with the band on and said that I now appeared more versatile!

I just said ‘no I stretched the first time and that made me more flexible for the second attempt!’

Strictly speaking, depending on the size of the vegetable, it could, but it would have to be a huge great marrow, and you would have to hold it in with an outstretched arm. Isometrics

I was expecting this to be about the different colour power bands available for a KX125

I've had one for about 5 months, don't notice anything apart from my wrist feels naked when I take it off and people are always asking if I notice anything.
It has now been taken off, it fell apart when swimming, the water got into it and it now only has one hologram in it and the other is going. I still have the packaging though so I'm considering sending it back and having a moan.

The stretching and being pushed over are tricks/illusions that have been done for years.

.. and her was me thinking it'd be some hooligan charriot nike thead. I remember listening to the local chave "eere, me Honda KX has go these mint power bands, makes it go dead fast. Nowt bette than when yu;re on the bands". As if it was a magical elastic device that made the engine prfrom better. fk knows what they'd do if somone showed them a torque / power / RPM graph...
