I've sent an email asking to view it - it says it's in the UK:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2474272229

Wonder if it really exists?

In my opinion, not a chance, there's been about 5 auctions this week like this, they always mysteriously disappear after a day or so, in fact... check this URL, that settles it!

www.classiccars.com/classifieds/classified.asp?ClassifiedId=3509

Check out this one too, this exact car and description has been on e-bay 3 times this week under different sellers

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6168&item=2474335952

then check this:-

www.motorcities.com/contents/03ECA330861507.html

look familiar!

They don't even have the imagination to change the description! if vettes come up on e-bay I always cut part of the description, paste into google... and wahey... there you go... scam, scam, scam... I'm sick of it, don't know why they don't just ban the "pre-approved" bidder malarkey, they are nearly always dodgy!

Pauly you are the man for finding the same car and similar scams elsewhere.

A few weeks ago I sent an email to someone selling a "too good to be true" Plymouth 'Cuda 383 for $11,000 or $12,000. Knew it was a scam, he also had a '67 Camaro convertible SS396 and a '54 Corvette for similar money.

I knew I wouldn't get a reply (and I didn't) and the cars all mysteriously disappeared from ebay the next morning.

Ebay really needs some kind of "fraud squad" working on it, as you can tell somethings up a lot of the time by just reading carefully.

What makes me laugh about a lot of the cars like the above that are supposedly in the UK is the "obviously american" scenery in the background. What do they take us for.

At least a lot of the cars really for sale in the UK, by jokers or otherwise, print a 'phone number to allow viewing so at least you can laugh your ass off when you see 'em!

Makes it tough for someone selling a genuine car. When I sell mine I was thinking about putting it on ebay...

Taht's what I was thinking Cliff, we could be the "Ebay FBI"

I was also wondering if someone would seriously send the money and expect the car to be delivered.

Never bought a car without driving it, and never will, even if it's brand new!

The scam only works because of the pre-approved bidder bit of the auction, when you e-mail asking to be added to the list they usually send you an e-mail saying:-

"glad you're interested in my car... I'd love to sell it to you... BUT... unfortunately its in the usa/gibraltar/timbucktu! just pay me 50% now and the other 50% when it arrives in the UK"

So they rely on people being gullible enough to go for that... but their english and grammar is usually so poor that you'd have to be VERY gullible, it's more of an annoyance than anything, and a real pain for the people who've had their IDs stolen of course

Just emailed Ebay to look into the scam which it undoubtedly is.

Took me ages to find their email contact details. Another case of an organistaion that just wants to leave everyone to it while they're as hard to contact as possible.

I got an e-mail from e-bay telling me about the car (one of my favourite searches!) so I've e-mailed them now too telling them I think it's fraudulent...

The black vette disappeared pretty quickly, can only think that this one hasn't been spotted yet.
