We have a joint of beef that is currently in the freezer and I'm thinking of using it tomorrow but what is the best way to defrost a joint?

Thanks
Mike

Ah yes, a cunning plan hehe

Do I just leave it on the side or in water though?

Just leave it on the side. Beef is incredibly resilient stuff; I wouldn't necessarily recommend sitting it on a radiator for the next 24 hours, but you certainly don't need to defrost it in a fridge at this time of year.

Depending on its size, you might consider the airing cupboard.

Stick in in the microwave on a very low setting for 8/10 mins. Just get it started. Then leave it to defrost naturally.
