I will shortly replace the 3 piece bathroom suite in what was my folks house with something more modern. The house will be let out so I'm not looking to spend a fortune but want a simple, decent quality, affordable white 3 piece suite. Should I go for an own brand item from B&Q say or something from the likes of Ideal Standard, Armitage Shanks etc. Also can anyone recommend durable taps...some of the fancy things I've seen in friends houses seem to fail after relatively little use.

Ebay is your friend, we sourced all our bathroom (except the bath) on there .Taps Homebase wanted £100 for we picked up for £40 inc free matching sink taps (victorian style) toilet & sink arrived on a pallet @ half the shop price as well. All been fitted over a year now and standing up well.

Taps with rubber washers, NOT ceramic disc quarter turn.

Ideal Standard Alto suite, good simple design, known brand and seriously good value for money.

I like this...great value for money. Don't see anything in the Armitage, Duravit ranges etc to beat it.

Ferg - thanks. Can you advise why rubber washer not ceramic quarter turn taps?

Ebay is fine but just watch out for non-standard fittings.
The savings don't seem so good when you have to buy and source extra adaptors.
