Super muscle cars how to do burn outs

Been watching quite a few of these and it's the same idea in every show buy a proper scrapped vehicle do it up.
But when finished he takes them out to the road builds up the revs rear brake light is on and he starts to smoke the tyres without moving then keeps going and gradually this insane burnout pushes the car forwards. Then you see the rear brake lights go off as the burnout stops.
Note the engine is at WOT and does sound good.
Now I thought this was a special brake he had set up to lock the front wheels for such hooning however he was given a brand new mustang to do up in his super muscle car way but as soon as it was delivered he did the same burnout. Now I'm not sure how he is doing this ? These cars are all autos so is it a case of into drive foot on the brake then floor the throttle and as the power is greater than the rear brakes ability the wheels spin. So the discs must be glowing and ruined given the duration it's on a burnout.
Note there is no big pool of water either it's always dry and public highway.
If you wanted to copy what they are doing how do you do it and apart from tyres is there any damage being done to the car?
Finally as all his engines are brand new I was under the impression you never do such antics until quote a few miles are under it's belt. These engines are big block 530/430v8 some super charged sone with mad max style ram super charger.
I've gone on the super muscle car website and you cannot buy them sadly as they appear to sell in auctions for c$45k-$65kwhich I think is a steal.

Can be a line lock (front brakes locked independantly of the rear) or just some pressure on the foot brake as you suggest. It's not hard to do, a little more difficult in a low powered manual car though (MX-5 1.6 for example)
I wouldn't think it is sympathetic to the car but then that's not a big priority.

Can I do the burnou in my auto 330d? And if so I'm guessing put it into sport.
Do the rear discs glow and therefore is it a risk of tempering the discs?I don't want any damage tyres I accept but the rest I want to be eyes wide open. Also as au auto box does it change up or just hold it in first until you actually gain traction

If you turn the traction control etc off I'd expect so. My auto E38 740 did them with no fuss - aside of the smoke you'd never know. Trick is keeping it from changing gear. You need surprisingly little pressure on the foot brake to hold the car and surprisingly little throttle to get the wheels to start spinning.
The rear wheels won't be turning that fast if you're in first gear. Lets face it, you don't worry about applying your brakes at much higher speeds when exiting a motorway do you?

Sounds like you have found 'Discovery Turbo' and have been watching Wrecks to Riches.... I really enjoy the program, and 'Overhauling' which is a similar concept. The burnouts i can understand, when i've built engines in the past it is incredibly satisfying taking the car out for a spin. As others have said the clue is that he applies the brakes ever so slightly to lock the front but due to the power going to the rear and rear brakes being only a small fraction of overall braking power it is easy to break the grip.
What gets me is that in a lot of the programs when the cars come to auction there isn't really a massive amount of profit in them. Often the build cost is circa $30-40 in parts before any labour is factored in and as you say most sell for $45-65 although a couple have cost him money, a Camaro iirc sold for $25k which is a BARGAIN but a $15k loss for the Speed Shop.
