Stopped on the M3 yesterday

Pulled over by a friendly police man in a nice BMW police car yesterday.
He asked me if I knew why he had flashed me over and as I didn't, he told me.
Reason it turns out is number plate reg info was not recognized by the high tech camera/computer system he had installed. Looked a like a great bit of kit, lots of buttons etc
Checked out my details all over his phone like insurance, license as I had neither on me, wished me a pleasant afternoon, and sent me on my way. All good.
Reason for post as I forgot to ask him, what reason would my registration number not show up on his system? And what do I need to sort to rectify this?
My cars a 56 plate BMW, which I bought from a BMW main dealer a month back, same plate since new as it doesn't show a plate change on HPI
Thanks

Some insurers are really slow at updating the insurance database. Get onto AskMID and put your reg num in to see if your car shows up. If not, get onto your insurers.
Thanks for replying BursarImpression I got was it was the actual registration number that didn't show on a database, when I transferred the insurance over to the car when I purchased it, the broker said the reg number didn't throw up a make/ model etc. and I had to go through the detail with him

Insurers are faced with harsh penalties if they do not hit submission targets.. Requirement is 7 days, ey need to hit mid 90% submission in that time frame if I remember rightly..LukeSi said:
