In prpeparation for taking my Griff to Le Mans, I'd like to check the fluid levels, but I don't know where to start with the diff or the gearbox. Please could someone steer me in the right direction (like where/how do I check the diff and gearbox oil).

Thanks,

Dan.

If there are no signs of leaking on the floor or around casings you should be ok. here are refil plugs you can undo to check level by putting a piece of wire and checking the depth. Im not sure exactly where they are as ive never tried. Someone here will though im sure.

If you have no oil on the floor of the garage... there is probably no oil in the diff / gearbox!!!!
Seriously, transmission fluids should not be a problem if the cars serviced by good engineers.
slight! leaks are common / standard ( mines weeped since I had her.
Both levels are on the right hand side, halfIsh way up the boxes. use 1/2 inch drive of your socket set ( with no socket on it) to remove the plugs. oil should be at this level - with the car level.
The rear off side wheel needs to be taken off to do the diff easily.
Good luck

Suggest you get the bible, the 'Griffith and Chimaera Handbook' by Steve Heath (aka shpub on this site) and available via the TVRCC. It will certainly help you understand the Griff and its many foibles.

(How much was that commission Steve??)

Mine dosent leak a drop. That was all. I meant serious puddles on the floor. Should cause concern.

Thanks for the info. There is oil on the garage floor, but it literally is just a few spots, each time I put the car back in after taking it for a drive. I've heard that the oil can expand and condense through breather pipes when it gets warm, but I didn't want to find out the hard way if too much escapes :-(

Thanks again,

Dan.

Mine has dropped a few spots from the diff. I was wondering how to check this. (and I have the bible... RTFM I guess)

Nicely timed post Dan.
