Went to my first ever DoT event on Sunday. As a day with kids, it was great. Superb venue too!

As for the racing, this may sound odd, but I really don't know if I liked it or not.

Sure it was close - and very exciting - The pickups finished one race with 8 cars crossing the line within a second of each other.

Only four races as well.

But, I just have this nagging feeling that something was missing and I don't know what.

I t maybe that these events are not aimed at enthusiasts.

Anyone else feel the same?

I had my first ever visit to Rockingham last year to watch the F3/GT racing. I thought it was an excellent circuit and really enjoyed the excellent view of the whole track from the grandstand.

I haven't seen the DoT there - perhaps if I did I might have also got the feeling that something was 'missing'

Regretfully the F3/GT/Tuscans are not doing Rockingham this year. I don't think the UK drivers like it very much as it is anticlockwise rather than clockwise and puts a strain on their necks and backs as their muscles are better developed for going the other way round.

I think there is more to it than 'muscle strain'. The GT's IMO aren't suited to the infield at Rockingham, and the F3's wanted something done about the mickey mouse chicane at turn 1

Our drivers didn't really mind the anti-clockwise part, but the infield is rather fiddly.

I'd like to go back there, but only because of the atmosphere and the great feeling that you really are the centre of attention when you're racing.

I loved it as a circuit... a nice mix of ballsy and technical, but it cam make a big difference in the way the configure the circut. when a mate raced his MG there the circuit was different and not as much fun...
