Best Supermoto for a newbie.
Discussion
Hi guys, looking to get my test done in the next couple of months , and have my heart set on a supermoto. (I've already done my CBT and Bike theory test so hopefully can sort it out before summer!)
Insurance isn't an issue, as everything I have gotten quotes on has been easily affordable.
I'm looking at spending about 3 grand, give or take.
I would LOVE an SXV550, but a good first bike it would not make.
I like the idea of the DRZ400SM, but I feel I would get bored of it after a couple of months.
I'm 6' 2" and about 14.5 stone, so need something pretty chunky.
Something from the KTM stable is a probability (450/525/640/theres far too many choices!)
Or an MX bike that has already been converted for SM use (YZ426/WR450 etc seem to crop up on ebay etc)
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers, Dan.

If you are going to buy an mx converted to sm- read up on the maintainance you will have to do, oil changes will be very regular for example- depending on how much you are wainting to do this may also rule out the ktm I would LOVE an SXV550, but a good first bike it would not make.

Are you wanting to keep a standard bike or do some modding to the bike? If you are willing to mod the drz can be livened up a bit.
Thumpertalk would probably be one of the better sites for you to read up on the bikes you are considering
