The 944 is almost ready to hit the streets again, so I'm going to have to insure it soon.

Does anybody have any recommendations for classic insurance policies?

Ideally I'd want unlimited mileage.

Any suggestions?

Cheers

I'm in my third year of using Grandstand 2000 to insure my 1987 944S (can't find a link because of the restrictions on web at work but try a search on Grandstand 2000 and Keith Montgomery). No complaints so far (but no claims either) but I think you'll be disappointed if your heart is set on unlimited mileage. Policy is through Sun Alliance (I think) and including breakdown recovery and named partner as a driver premium is around £250. [Edited to say that is 5K miles limit.]

Only disappointment so far is that I can't insure the car to go to conferences (etc) with work as they count as business travel and no classic policy will cover business. (Commuting is fine though, even though I'd have thought the key factor was the overall mileage limit.)

Good luck, Guy.

When I phoned around I couldn't find a classic policy that allowed me to keep my car outside, have any kind of realistic mileage limit (anything over 5000 miles) and use it to commute to work in. In the end I insured it with Tescos for about 400 quid (85 lux).
