Just want to extend an invite to all the racing fans here to come along and watch the racing on Saturday. Everyone is welcome to come and chat in the paddock although you'll have to excuse me if I seem a bit distracted at times.

Current weather forecast is dry but a bit on the chilly side (just what my car likes)

Julian,

I'll be there from 12ish as a mate of mine is in the XR Challenge (Mike Graham).

I'll come and say hello.

Looks like I'll be making the trip up to Oulton. Our Rescue Unit is coming up for the day from Castle Combe. There will be and another couple of crew looking to see a good days racing and hopefully not have to do any work!

I'll try to pop round at lunchtime.

I will be there too but only spectating due to a lack of funds ( and enthusiasm to tow the bloody car all the way up there! )

Funds is a good excuse Pete - enthusiasm though? Next you'll be telling us you prefer sitting infront of the fire with your slippers on, smoking a pipe and watching the soaps on TV...

Sorry, only just saw the thread, otherwise I would have come and said hi. Nice to see a Fiat X1/9 out racing, lovely car. Spotted: One bloke in a PH t-shirt on Hilltop this afternoon.

Nice to meet a couple more PH'ers, Julian and Pete.

A good day (as always at Oulton) with some decent racing. Never seen such a mixed bag of cars in the race you were in Jimbro! They ranged from Lancia Stratos to road going Fiat Uno's and even a Nova I think.

The X19 looked well.

Thought the lad in the Nova did quite well. The Harrier was a bit special, all hissing dump valves

To give a brief explanation, we have a rather diverse field thanks to 8 different classes!

Prod Saloons A, B and C are have to be within 5% of the original manufacturers stated weight, must run on road legal tyres, retain the original interior but they can do pretty much what they like to the engine. Result is some very quick cars in a straight line but they have terrible problems under braking and cornering.

Modified Production C, D and E are strictly controlled on silhouette and limited on engine and suspension modifications but can run on slicks and strip out the interior. Result is some very quick cars around corners but tend to be a bit limited in a straight line.

Modified A and B are only limited on silhouette with restrictions only on aerodynamics and a couple of other minor points. Result is some very quick cars.

There is actually another group of classes again but they do not run in the same race (ours can be split between production and modified depending on grid size) or even the same venue.

Yesterday would have been a stunning race if not for the fact the grid was a bit small and we were using the full international circuit. I spent the entire race being baulked by a lancia saloon and dodging the extremely quick primeras and the harrier. Ironically I seem to have spent the rest of the day helping the same lancia make it to the track after a small ride height tweak resulted in the spring perch chewing a hole in the tyre sidewall!

Managed to say hi to lazyitus inbetween the mayhem though and if anyone missed me (or viceversa) I do apologise.

Sorry I didn't make it round - we only managed about 10 minutes for lunch and I didn't make more than 15 yards from the Rescue units.

Good meeting though.

Hi Pete,

Did you know the event nearly didn't take place?

It was down to lack of Marshals!!

We signed on 50 Incident marshals-we needed 70

It worked out at 2-3 per post.

Are you doing anything June 12th?

Guess what we are short again!!

Hi Ian,

The lack of marshalls seems to be getting more of a problem. We had a round cancelled at Silverstone earlier in the month due to that very reason.

I am probably a bit far from Oulton to marshall their to be honest, Although can you still get one signature on your race licensce for marshalling? What's the event that you need them for?

I hope our Silverstone meet on the 29th (I think) is not cancelled!

Lazyitus, Good to meet you!

Hi Pete,

I am away from home at the moment, hope to be back for the touring cars at the w/e at Oulton (I work on the Rescue Unit and sign on the Incident marshals.

I will find out about the 'signature' for marshalling for drivers.

The meeting down for 12 June is looking dubious as we have only 38 Incident Marshals 12 Flaggies and 6 observers we need around 130 marshals intotal to run this meeting.

Indeed 6 FF1600 drivers have offered thier services.

I will post a topic when I have all the details.

Up to now we have Formula Palmer Audis (23) Cars great racing [I saw them at Brands] Formula Woman, Morgans, not sure what else, but it is a high profile meeting.

Cheers

Ian
