The Snooker starts this weekend.

Probably one of the most open championships for a while.

Looking at how the bookies have priced things up, Higgins and Selby are favourites at 6/1 with Ronnie, Ding and Mark Williams in the group behind at 9/1.

Although I'd love to see him do it, I don't think Ronnie is in the correct frame of mind to take the title this year.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/other_sports/snook...

On Thursday last week he wanted to pull out of the tournament only to change his mind a day later.

I don't have any time for players who are willing to throw matches for money so hoping Higgins doesn't get too far.

I reckon Ding or Selby will lift the trophy this year.

Any other snooker fans on here?

I really hope Ronnie starts to play well again.

There's nobody in the world who can beat him when he's on fire. As Ding found out at the masters a couple of years ago.

Looking forward to this this year, I think one of about 6 players could win it. As said it'd be good to see Ronnie back to his best but his mind isn't really on it at the moment, when he's playing at 100% he's unbeatable.

I think it'll be John Higgins who'll win it but I'll be cheering on Mark Selby as usual.

Edit: There's a good match on at the moment; Neil Robertson vs Judd Trump

Thoroughly enjoyed the Robertson-Trump contest. The curse of the first time world champion has struck again. Well played Judd.

Mark Williams looks in decent touch too.

Ronnie starts off against Dale today - hope he's focussed on the job ahead.

Hendry scrapes into the second round (not quite sure how long he'll continue playing for) and Ronnie looked in great form as he opens up a lead against Dale.

Definitely, there are so many players in it who could go on and win it, O'Sullivan was scarily good considering he's not played much over the last few months, Selby played averagely for him and won 10-1, Williams is back to his best and Judd beat Selby in the China open final. This could be a cracking tournament this year.

Watching O'Sullivan and Murphy at the moment. We're seeing the odd bit of magic from Ronnie here, he's so impressive when he's on it.

ETA - Fantastic clearance under pressure from Ronnie to win 13-10.

Well the quarter final line up is complete.

Dott-Trump: Think Dott will win this one, he loves the longer matches.

Selby-Ding: Selby for me after his phenomenal performance against Hendry.

Ronnie-Higgins: too close to call but hope Ronnie hammers Higgins.

Williams-Allen: Williams for me.

Selby to win this year, I might have a few quid on the Jester from Leicester.

I'd have to agree with you, though I'm not sure whether Ronnie can edge it against Higgins. If he keeps his head then you'd expect him to win, but Higgins is one of those characters who is so complete in his game that he could get under Ronnie's skin. That said, he does look more focused than he has for a long, long time. Tricky one.

I agree with all of those, except Ronnie/Higgins.. I'm not sure on Ronnies frame (See what I done there) of mind. Where as Higgins seems to be on it as usual.

What an excellent match with Ding vs. Bingham, very close to the wire. Glad Ding won though.

Looks like Higgins had a few quid on 4-4 at the interval. Hope Ronnie hammers him.

The two Marks were having a great game earlier, they were playing it like a couple of mates down a snooker club, both were playing brilliantly. Judd was excellent as well, I just hope he annihilates Dott in the end.

Wow, was wrong about Dott/Trump. Trump 8-1 up now. What a performance. A semi final against Selby or Ding beckons.

It has been a great championship so far. I've been watching one game on TV and the other on iplayer!

Higgins and Ronnie has been great, pot success has been around 96% each!

Ding has also been playing very good against selby.

Had to take my eyes off it now due to the footy.
