Tempary speed limits on M ways
Discussion
Hi all,
Just a quick question for ya'll in the know, when 50 is displayed on the small yellow flashing matrix signs on a Mway, is it an advisery max speed limit or an enforced max speed limit?
Ive never seen people actually drive at 50 when the signs are diplaying nor would it be safe to half the time anyway!
Thanks

I think you need to invest in a Highway Code book. They are inexpensive and worth their weight in gold!
Highway code will tell you exactly the answer you are looking for. Be careful with the temporary speed signs which are surrounded by a red ring! You may be shocked at the response for not complying

Shouldn't that be:

O/T - I would have written DWRCFORU, but remembered that when entering the US a couple of years ago, the Immigration officer wrote "CWOP" across the old business visa stamped in my passport. I asked what it meant and he replied, "Cancelled Without Prejudice". I was just about to point out that "without" is one word, but decided not to as (a) "CWP" would undoubtedly mean "Cancelled WITH Prejudice" and (b) one does not argue with US Immigration officials ... unless one is into bondage and latex exploration of ones' cavities - Streaky
