I've already posted asking for possible ideas of points and prizes on this and it was mentioned that I may just be on the right side of 3 points rather than 3-6. Would this be correct ?
I think its a well known site where the road climbs over the brow of a hill and hits a very long downhill stretch. The camera van is conveniently located right at the bottom with a good view up the hill.
I'm a little worried as its my first set of points and wonder what the impact will be on insurance etc.

Should be 3 points and a £60 fine.

Shouldnt make much if any difference to the insurance but make sure you let them know.

Definitely! If you haven't already fulled out the NIP then ask for the evidence.

If they haven't got any....

And another quick question....do I give them the reference or state the road, location, date and approximate time. ie A48 Foelgastell, 24th between 10am and 11am ?

Hmmm, I'd have thought you should state the NIP reference. Definitely write, towards the end of your 24 days

Erm puggit..... Forgive my ignorance on this one but is the 24 days from the date of the alleged offence or from the date on the cover letter accompanying the NIP ?

I know that stretch of road. On my way to Wales last year with family in car my 5 year old daughter commented 'daddy, you can go as fast as you like now because there are no other cars on the road' which wasn't quite true because at the bottom of the hill tucked under the trees was an innocent looking van. Luckily, being a suspicious type I assumed the worse and slowed down to 70ish (from a perfectly safe 85ish) but you never know with those vans how far away they can catch you and I certainly spent the next couple of weeks wondering whether I had been caught.

That stretch of road could be designed to tempt and catch motorists exceeding the limit, and the van is perfectly positioned at the bottom of the hill to maximise its revenue generating opportunities. If that is an accident blackspot then I am very surprised.

Sorry - typo. It's 28 days, and it's from date on the NIP.

Of course it isn't a blackspot, it's a safe piece of road with a decent hiding place!!

Very safe piece of road....perfect visibility all the way down..long sweeping corners..not even a junction. Was wondering why the cars were all queued up on the left as I started decending the hill...then clocked the van and braked to about 75-80. Evidently too late.

Quick recap. there are two dates on the NIP, the date of 'incident' and the date of the NIP letter. I presume its the latter that I have 28 days from. Sorry to be so pedantic with this puggit.

Oh yeah .. And one last thing

If I ask for evidence.....do I still need to have the NIP signed within 28 days or do they have to supply evidence and then give me a reasonable extension to the 28 days to send back the NIP ?

I'll leave the legal stuff to the likes of JA and DVD I'm afraid...

Yes, it's 28 days from the date on the NIP - ie when it was sent out (allegedely)
